Academic Program

Our competency-based academic program, achieves that students become able to relate what they learn in school with what they see in their daily and academic life.

Competency-based education focuses on learning, not teaching, and its approach is a fundamental tool in our model of integral formation, since it promotes knowledge, self-learning, formation of intellectual abilities and, above all, the formation of virtues and values. When we speak of competency-based education, we refer to the type of teaching that helps students think, in order for them to be people of good and consequently act not only in their own profit but also in the profit of others.

Classrooms are organized around interest areas or learning centers where our students are engaged in continuous learning and develop competencies through challenging activities. The active and proactive participation of each student is essential, since it helps integrate intellectual, social, personal and emotional abilities.

One of the most important strategies in our teaching-learning process is learning through playing games. Games benefit children and encourage them to grasp learning in a natural way. Collaborative work is an essential element in our educational model, since it helps students develop skills required in an increasingly globalized society.

One of the main advantages of our preschool is that our students may continue their studies within the same education system based upon competencies. This system helps students continue their integral formation.

The programs in the different preschool levels are as follows:

Bambolino 1 – Estimulación temprana

Our preschool has a psychomotor program named Bambolino, which develops early stimulation that focuses on a mother-child relationship. The mother, along with her son or daughter, participates in sessions with different activities oriented on the affective, intellectual and integral maturity of the baby.

Bambolino 2 y 3

We believe that the first years of a child’s life are a highly important moment to boost a satisfying global development. Thus these programs are tailored to the growth characteristics of children this age, such as:

  • - Discovering their environment
  • - Using play and movement as a mean of expression
  • - Learning to interact with others
  • - Developing their sensory capacities, as well as their affectivity, and learning habits for a healthy lifestyle
  • - Developing language skills and initiating contact with reading

Kinder 1, 2 y 3

Between the ages of 3 and 6 children go through important changes derived from their maturity and learning. Our programs are focused on students strengthening linguistic abilities, developing organized learning habits, and gradually acquiring certain concepts and basic abilities that will help develop their capabilities; all this as a foundation for their later scholar learning. At this age, children:

  • - Begin the process of reading and writing and start to develop a liking for it
  • - Have a better capacity of social integration: the child starts to feel a part of different groups
  • - Progress in the mastery of oral language
  • - Start to familiarize with technology
  • - Form the virtue of respect for themselves and others
  • - Use play and activities of observation and experimentation to learn in an organized manner
  • - Work in teams, enhancing their participation and improving their capacity of expression
  • - Learn a foreign language intensively, capitalizing the ease to learn that they have at this age
